The money taboo did not fall, it moved: young adults now say what they can afford, not what they make.
As of August 23, Forbes and a Yahoo Lifestyle piece both put boomers at 29 percent. Bank of America's own report says 39. What it actually shows:
- 60 percent of American Gen Z talk about money with friends. The salary figure is 27 percent.
- 42 percent practice what the report calls loud budgeting, declining a plan and admitting the reason is money.
- 81 percent still say it matters to be seen as financially responsible.
Bin the silence at work. Keep it among friends who earn differently, where a salary buys nobody anything.
