- Rome's Spanish Steps: no sitting, eating, or writing, from 250 euros, up to 400 for damage.
- Venice: swimming a canal, going shirtless, or lounging on bridge steps runs up to 500 euros, plus expulsion.
- Trevi Fountain: from February 2026, a 2-euro ticket to reach the edge, with the piazza view still free; wading carries its own separate, older fine.
- Cinque Terre: proper closed shoes required on the trails; the famous 2,500-euro figure is a media number, not in the park's own rulebook and not verified as the statutory maximum.
