American workers really have stopped moving jobs. The claim that they stopped looking rests on a 93 percent figure Monster's own report does not source.
Monster sets the 43 percent against that 93 percent, but its methodology covers only the 2026 survey. Robert Half, a staffing firm, asked a different question in April and found the share of professionals planning to look within six months rose from 27 to 46 percent in a year.
- Robert Half also has 66 percent of hiring managers planning to increase permanent hiring in the second half of 2026.
- Quits held in a 1.9 to 2.0 range through June, against 2.3 to 2.4 in 2019.
- On our calculation from the Atlanta Fed's wage tracker, moving has paid better than staying every recorded month since August 2025, by 0.8 points in July.
The leverage came back before the confidence did.
